Role by Design
Are our people set up to succeed?
NFP roles are notoriously overloaded: fundraising coordinators who also run communications, events, volunteers and the database. Overloaded roles fail good people, and failed roles bleed fundraising capacity. We review roles at the coal face and rebuild them so they are workable, aligned to strategy and honest about hours.
Roles that fit the hours that exist.
- A role review for each position: what the role is on paper, what it is in reality, and the gap
- Redesigned role descriptions that fit the hours that exist, built with the people in the roles
- The finding framed the only fair way: the role as designed is impossible, never the person is failing
- Six and twelve month check-backs so the redesign is verified against retention and results
Three weeks for a five role package.
- Inputs: position descriptions, a short workload survey, and one conversation per role holder
- The library: our role archetypes, built from every engagement we run, mean you start from what already works in organisations your size
- Scale: packages start at five roles and grow with your team
Fixing the role often costs less than replacing the person. Again.
Every failed hire costs money, momentum and donor relationships. A workable role protects all three.
Need to fill the role too?
Role design is also the first step of our recruitment work: design the role first, then find the right person, then help them stay. One engagement can do both.
